Carolyn Robertson is a New York City–based film director, writer, and producer from Phoenix, Arizona, and a junior at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts studying Film & Television Production.
In 2023, Robertson founded Scarlet Door Films, a production company dedicated to telling female-driven, international, and historical stories. Her documentary Paper Prayers (2023), exploring the Hiroshima bombing and peace movement, has screened in an award-winning festival run internationally (official selections at All American High School Film Festival, Arizona Japanese Film Festival, Tokyo Lift-Off Film Festival, Activists Without Borders Film Festival, and more). Her narrative short film Icebreaker (2023) won Best High School Fiction Short Form from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Rocky Mountain Emmy Southwest Chapter.
Professionally, she has interned in Talent Management at Rebel Creative Group and in Film Development at Andaluz Media. Currently, she works at NYU Tisch’s Post Production Center as an Editing Technical Assistant.
Most recently, Robertson completed production of her newest short film, Absolutely Sweet Marie (2026), a satirical period-piece following teenage Marie Antoinette's marriage with a modern iPhone twist. As the creator, producer, and director of this project, she crowdfunded and produced the film entirely independently of NYU, earning a Seed & Spark Staff Pick distinction. Currently in post-production, the team plans a 2027 festival run.

Chaparral Filmmaking Club
I founded Chaparral’s Filmmaking Club in 2021, creating a creative community of filmmakers at my high school where there was none previously. Since then, I ran weekly meetings, directed all of our films, and taught members everything from scriptwriting to filming for new short films, PSAs, and promotional videos.
